History
I've been making websites since I discovered
Matmice in late December 2005 when I had just turned 13.
The first site I made was a really boring Star Wars fan site. I used graphics and photos from other nice sites (when I eventually learned how to copy and paste codes) so my site would
look cooler. But the problem was, I got mostly bad comments from other kids online. A few days after making my Star Wars fan site, I decided to open another site which this time, was a personal site even I still didn't make my own graphics.
And on January of 2006, I eventually learned how to tweak a certain code and through Paint and HTML, I eventually got to make my first graphic
which was a background. By visiting other sites and observing how they use codes, I expanded my knowledge on webdesign and opened a couple of sites in just
a few months. One of which was "Nikana's World" which was opened, I think, on January 2006 and Sprouse Zone- a Dylan and Cole Sprouse fan site which was opened on March 2006. Sprouse Zone the first ever site
that led me to making new online friends. I can still remember my first online friends and I would like to acknowledge them now:
Cody, Collin, and Natasha, I miss you guys! Also, my dad installed Photoshop (it was gift for my brother's birthday) but I totally had no clue
how to use it so for some reason, it got uninstalled (don't remember who did it).
As months passed by, I found out about
Freewebs (aka Webs). I was too
scared to try it out since I only had very little knowledge on HTML. But one day, I was about to go and update one of my sites
but then, Matmice wasn't working at all! So, I eventually decided to try out Freewebs for a change. And I decided to name my site "Glitter Fingers" for some apparent reason. I was really happy
but clueless when I first started. I first used a free i-frame layout but even with the coding, I totally got confused so I gave up on it. The next day, Matmice started working again so
I never went back to my Freewebs site again.
Months later, I decided to copy layout source codes of other sites and finally decided to open a High School Musical
fan site in Freewebs. I spent several weeks working on it and eventually, it opened in November 2006. It was my best site yet.
People came there, used the HSM graphics I offered them, affiliated with me, and actually commented on how much they liked my site! During this period, I
re-installed Photoshop again so I could make better graphics.
Months later, after HSM Zone became a success, I got hosted and decided to open another site. This time,I opened a doll site (since doll sites were really "in" then).
To this day, it is still open but I don't update it anymore. JWHF was the first site I made glitters and a glitter generator on. Check it out
HERE. But after a few months of
running JWHF, I got bored so I opened another HSM fan site that had spoiler content on HSM 2. It was called Lava Springs Hangout and in just a couple of
weeks, I had it hosted. Then a few months later, my host deleted HSM Zone without notifying me so I just decided
to stick with Lava Springs Hangout. I constantly worked on it- uploading over 1000+ photos in the gallery and installing
Web scripts for the first time such as Cutenews and Coppermine and also providing FTP-based fan site hosting to other HSM sites. I was dead proud of my site for accomplishing all this. And one day, when I was watching "American Idol", I totally became an instant fan of David Archuleta. A couple of weeks later, I
decided to make a fansite for him called David Archuleta Zone which I hosted in Lava Springs on around March 2008. But weeks after that, I got
some bad comments from other fan sites saying I copied their content. I eventually fixed it and got hosted at another
site. David Archuleta Zone became my most successful site to this day. The most visitors I received there was around 100+!
But as for Lava Springs Hangout: one day, my host just deleted EVERYTHING! All the 1000+ photos, pages of content, and all my updates were gone! =(
So, I decided to just put that aside and focus on David Archuleta Zone.
Months later, my host for David Archuleta Zone told me that he would be deleting my site permanently because he
already has too many hosts. On the other hand, he gave a domain name for free to one fan site that was um... not
good at all but she got a domain name because the owner had her site hosted there since the start (I was so mad at this). My host gave me a couple of
days to find a host for my site. So, I quickly searched for other hosts until I finally came to what I thought was a good one. I applied but since the host took so long to
respond, my current host finally deleted me >=(. He did send me a copy of all my files but the file size was just too huge (imagine having like
600+ photos plus around 10+ MP3 files and other files)! So when the new host I was applying on tried visiting my site, it was already deleted
by then because he took so long to check (I'm still furious about this now)! So, I found a free PHP cPanel
hosting site online which I uploaded everything in my site to except for the gallery photos. I re-opened it again but on June 2008 but it wasn't as nice as it was without the gallery photos. But just a couple
of days later, my whole site got deleted again for some apparent reason. DAZ was my most successful site and I'm just depressed to see it go. =( So, from that
day on, I vowed not to open a website anymore due to this depression.
But, on November 2008, I launched another website called iGirl since I decided that I missed webdesigning. I didn't want
to continue on with JWHF because I wanted to try something new. And since then, iGirl continues on providing
you with HQ graphics, glitters, and resources for your website/profile. And I promised myself that I wouldn't
get hosted until I somehow get a domain name (I can dream, right?). C'mon, I don't want to see another site come and go...
